MEET THE ARTIST

Hi, I'm Ashley, the artist behind Gather and Flow. I have always had a passion for the arts, and found that nature especially, inspired my creativity. I have been metalsmithing since 2007, after receiving my degree of fine arts in craft and material studies. With encouragement from my entrepreneurial mom, I decided to create Gather and Flow as it not only allows me to express my creativity and love for metalsmithing, but it allows me to connect with others who share a similar love for the outdoors.

Nature is unique in the grand feeling it gives you when you are surrounded by it and reminded that life is so much bigger than you. My jewelry serves as a token, to wear and to stay close to what keeps you feeling most alive.

BEHIND THE ART

All of my pieces are originally designed and created by me in my Richmond, Virginia studio. It is important to me to offer both high-quality and environmentally friendly pieces.

I only use ethically sourced or recycled metals and my packaging is made from recycled materials. Even my home studio is powered by a solar coop!

All of my pieces are either sterling silver and or 14K gold, nothing is ever plated. The molds used for any cast pieces are made from my original handcrafted designs, and I take care to individually texture, solder and finish each piece.

ELEMENTS GATHERED FROM NATURE THAT FLOW THROUGH JEWELRY

Behind each piece, the concepts of emergent properties and of the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, motivates my design. My creative process entails taking many elements of nature that catches my eye and working them together into a cohesive piece, or creating many layers of cut out silver to create a scene.

I gather the pieces that make me feel most alive, that bring back memories, that hold meaning. I take this collection of elements and transform them into a piece of jewelry that allows those past experience to flow through you, to keep the organic connection to nature and your memories.
